Mixed Berry Acai Bowl with Granola
Frozen acai, banana and berries blend into a thick, spoonable purple base with the texture of soft-serve. A neat stripe of granola, three kinds of berries, coconut flakes and mint go on top. On a hot Gulf morning it is breakfast and air conditioning at once.

Method
Step 1: Run the sealed acai packs under warm water for about 5 seconds, then squeeze to break the frozen puree into chunks before opening.
Step 2: Add the almond milk to the blender first, followed by the acai, frozen banana, frozen berries and maple syrup if using.
Step 3: Blend on low, pressing the mixture down with a tamper or stopping to scrape the sides, until completely smooth. Add more milk only 1 tablespoon at a time; the base should mound on a spoon.
Step 4: Chill two bowls in the freezer for a few minutes, then divide the acai base between them and smooth the tops with the back of a spoon.
Step 5: Lay a stripe of granola across the middle of each bowl. Arrange the blueberries, raspberries and blackberries on either side, sprinkle with coconut flakes, add a mint sprig and eat right away.
Kitchen note
Liquid is what turns an acai bowl into a smoothie, so start with the least amount possible and let the blender work slowly; frozen fruit only blends thick when it is pushed into the blades.
Easy swap
Use frozen mango chunks in place of the mixed berries for a sweeter, more tropical base.
